The solitary bees of the species Osmia bicornis (L. 1758) exhibit marked sexual dimorphism. Females are almost twice the size of males, possess a ventral scopa for collecting pollen, and also have a completely black face. In contrast, males are smaller, lack pollen-carrying structures, and have white hairs on their face.
